After Gordon Igesund was named the new Bafana coach rumours started to circulate as to who will be his assistant coaches. A lot of names were thrown into the pot such as Doctor Khumalo, Fani Madida and Roger De Sa. Today SAFA announced the men who will assist Gordon in a quest to get Bafana Bafana back to their glory days. SAFA has appointed Thomas Madigage as assistant coach, Serame Letsoaka will become the second assistant coach in match games and Alex Heredia is the new goalkepper coach.
SAFA Technical Committee chairman Fanyana Sibanyoni also announced that Gordon requested that a reference group, consisting of Jomo Sono, Clive Barker and Shakes Mashaba, be appointed to provide input and support. The good thing about this appointment is that Gordon is the one who appointed the whole panel and no one forced his hand; so SAFA has given him all the resources he requested. Mr. Igesund will have all the ammunition he requires to engineer Bafana’s quest to be the african powerhouse with the 2013 AFCON on home-soil being the first major test.
