Puma pulled off their partnership with Bafana Bafana leaving a void for the national team to fill

Adult website Ashley Madison has offered national soccer team Bafana Bafana a sponsorship deal of nearly R10 million, The Star reported on Tuesday.
The site’s chief executive and founder Noel Biderman said his website, whose slogan is “life is short, have an affair”, could fill the sponsorship gap left after Puma pulled its support for the SA Football Association (Safa).
Biderman reportedly wrote a letter to Safa boss Danny Jordaan.
“Sportsmen are famous for their cheating ways and we feel linking our dating site with this impressive club’s performance historically and tying in to its future will create a powerful partnership,” he reportedly said in the letter.

Safa spokesman Dominic Chimhavi dismissed the offer as a marketing ploy.
“We haven’t received a single letter,” he told the newspaper.
“Anyway, the Bafana Bafana brand is a national asset and we wouldn’t want it to be associated with something that will make it a laughing stock.”

Personally I don’t think SAFA should consider such an offer, Bafana Bafana is the pride of the nation followed by fans of all age groups and should not be associated with such a brand.

Musona out for rest of year

The injured Knowledge Musona

The injured Knowledge Musona

By Daniel Chokoe

Knowledge Musona will likely not play again this year as Kaizer Chiefs officials on Monday updated his medical condition and confirmed the severity of the injury suffered by their star striker.

He will only make his comeback in January, officials have told supersport.com, as he recovers from a broken shoulder bone, although there are hopes his recovery might prove quicker.

It happened in an awkward fall as he scored a goal for the club last month against Free State Stars in the Telkom Knockout quarterfinal.

Musona dove to head home the ball but fell hard as he did not cushion his fall.

The medical prognosis is that he will not return before the December break.

The Zimbabwe international is likely to be severely missed, having already had to sit out the derby against Orlando Pirates two weekends ago.

The 22-year-old had shown a renewed appetite since returning to the Premier Soccer League after two seasons in the German Bundesliga. He is on loan for the rest of the season, this is a major setback for Amakhosi as they want to reclaim the league honours once again this season, they will sorely miss his goalscoring touch.

Musona’s absence is exacerbated by the ugly derision that Chiefs fans have been piling on his Zimbabwean counterpart Kingstone Nkhatha, who has replaced Musona in the line-up.

Arsenal Outclass Liverpool to move five points clear

By Daniel Chokoe

The stage was set for a top of the table clash on Saturday with both teams hoping to get the 3 points, but it was the home side that left their visitors walking alone with an impressive 2-0 win. The gunners bossed the game from the first whistle winning most of the individual battles in the midfield.

They wasted no chance as Santi Carzola deservedly put the home side ahead in the 18th minute. The game was even as the Spaniard fired his side ahead, lashing the ball home after his bullet header had come back off the post. Liverpool threatened the Gunners defence as Daniel Sturridge notably kept probing the defence with his skillful runs however Arsenal remained resilient until the final whistle.

Ramsey then secured all three points on the hour mark when he cracked in a sublime 25-yard half-volley for his 10th goal of an impressive campaign as Arsene Wenger’s side renewed
belief ahead of this week’s Euro trip to Dortmund and Premier League game at Manchester United.

The result meant the Gunners top the log with a 5 points margin.

Chelsea defeated 2-0 by a clinical Newcastle United side

By Daniel Chokoe

Newcastle United secured a thoroughly-deserved 2-0 victory over an in-form Chelsea side earlier today.

With Chelsea on a six games winning streak, Jose Mourinho’s
men went to St James’ Park in high spirits expecting to pick up an easy 3 points, but left deflated as goals from Yoan Gouffran and Loic Remy gave the Magpies all three points.

Alan Pardew’s men were always likely to perform following their derby day embarrassment at the hands of Sunderland last weekend. But they were not really favourites to take all
three points off the Mourinho inspired Blues.

Chelsea were the better side in the first half, with John Terry having the best chances. However after the interval the home side performed brilliantly, scoring in the 68th minute when Gouffran headed in a Yohan Cabaye free-kick, before Remy doubled their lead with just a minute of normal-time to play.

The result sees Newcastle climb to ninth in the Premier League, while Chelsea drop to third. It also highlights Mourinho’s poor records against the Magpies at home.
