The stage was set for a top of the table clash on Saturday with both teams hoping to get the 3 points, but it was the home side that left their visitors walking alone with an impressive 2-0 win. The gunners bossed the game from the first whistle winning most of the individual battles in the midfield.
They wasted no chance as Santi Carzola deservedly put the home side ahead in the 18th minute. The game was even as the Spaniard fired his side ahead, lashing the ball home after his bullet header had come back off the post. Liverpool threatened the Gunners defence as Daniel Sturridge notably kept probing the defence with his skillful runs however Arsenal remained resilient until the final whistle.
Ramsey then secured all three points on the hour mark when he cracked in a sublime 25-yard half-volley for his 10th goal of an impressive campaign as Arsene Wenger’s side renewed
belief ahead of this week’s Euro trip to Dortmund and Premier League game at Manchester United.
The result meant the Gunners top the log with a 5 points margin.
