Brazil legend Ronaldo believes Barcelona star Neymar is destined for greatness and can achieve even more success than him. The 23-year-old netted once in Barca’s 6-0 La Liga win over Getafe on Tuesday to equal Ronaldo’s figure of 47 goals for the Catalans and the two-time World Cup winner thinks his compatriot will only get better in the years to come.

“I sincerely hope that Neymar will surpass me in all aspects,” Ronaldo told ESPN Brasil.

“Neymar has a brilliant future ahead of him and is already performing marvellous at present.

“His performances will please the people of Brazil because he is a great idol.”

Neymar has scored 29 times in La Liga, 10 goals in the Champions League, seven in the Copa del Rey and once in the Supercopa de Espana.

Personally I believe, Neymar will somehow always be in the shadow of Messi he can never really be the main man for Barcelona. In terms of Achievements, he will definitely surpass Ronaldo who is the 5th alltime goal scorer for Brazil, Neymar is behind him by a mere 19 goals however I do not foresee him winning the world cup with Brazil.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez says Gareth Bale was not the most expensive player in the world.

Madrid were reported to have paid £85million to lure the Welshman from Tottenham over the summer – beating the £80million paid for Cristiano Ronaldo.

But speaking to Spanish television this week, Perez confirmed that Madrid only paid £78million for Bale.

‘Yes, sure,’ said Perez when asked if the amount was £78million.

‘He is insured for the amount he cost – it’s a life insurance against accidents.’

Madrid are thought to be paying for Bale in two separate payments over the next two years, meaning that Spurs have only pocketed about £39million so far.

Meanwhile, Bale is expected to return to the Madrid team at the weekend, having been struggling with injury in recent weeks.

The 24-year-old has only made three appearances for Real so far, but has ramped up his fitness this week ahead of his return.
